Underground: General Manager (4.1 Legal Appointment)

Key Responsibilities

• Assume full accountability for the safe and efficient operation of the underground mine
• Carry the 4.1 legal appointment in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Drive a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with statutory requirements
• Oversee production, engineering, geology, and support services to achieve business targets
• Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary management team
• Develop and implement operational strategies to optimise performance and extend mine life
• Manage budgets, cost control, and financial performance of the operation
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including regulators, communities, and contractors

Minimum Requirements

• Mine Manager?s Certificate of Competency (Metalliferous Mines) ? Essential
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related field
• Minimum 15 – 20 years? experience in the mining industry, with substantial underground experience
• Proven track record in senior management roles within underground mining operations
• Chrome mining experience will be advantageous
• Sound understanding of South African mining legislation and compliance requirements
