ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and manage all mechanical maintenance activities across the mine and both processing plants
  • Ensure optimal performance, availability and reliability of all mechanical equipment
  • Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
  • Manage breakdowns and ensure minimal downtime through effective troubleshooting
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, and environmental legislation
  • Lead and mentor maintenance teams, including artisans and foremen
  • Manage budgets, costs, and procurement of mechanical spares and services
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency and reduce operational costs
  • Liaise with production teams to ensure alignment between maintenance and operational targets
  • Compile and present technical reports and maintenance performance metrics

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Government Certificate of Competency (GCC – Mines & Works)
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a mining environment, preferably in open cast chrome operations
  • Strong knowledge of plant maintenance, mining equipment, and safety regulations
  • Proven leadership and team management experience
