Chief Safety Officer (Opencast Mining Operation)

RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Implement, monitor and maintain all relevant SHEQ & Wellness standards, ISO certification and management systems to ensure the mine complies with SHEQ regulatory and governance requirements
• Effectively implement and monitor risk management, compliance measures and controls.
• Coordinate and participate in Safety Audits
• Effectively manage people
• Legal function of Chief Safety Officer
• Drive continuous improvement in safety performance through training, awareness and behavioural safety programs.
• Compile and submit management reports
• Quarterly HSE, SIP and legal audits

CANDIDATE PROFILE (MIN REQUIRTEMENTS)

• Completed formal qualification in a relevant Safety, Health and Environmental discipline combined with demonstrated practical experience
• At least 8-10 years’ experience on an open cast mine and plant environment
• Blasting ticket advantageous
• Valid South African driver’s license
• Computer literate
• Driven, self-motivated, leadership, setting direction, forward thinking, strategic, inspiring people, collaborative.
