Purpose summary
Overall compliance and safety of the operation

Job description
• Implement, maintain and control the Safety Management System.
Reports
• Implement, maintain and control the Contractors Safety Pack at the Mines.
• Timeously conduct inspections and compile reports relating to the Safety function.
• Attend all safety related meetings scheduled by the individual sites and Mines.
• Ensure health and safety procedures are adopted and communicated to all employees.
• Monitor and action all activities with regards to safety related issues.
• Continuously assist in optimizing mine processes and ensure required safety standards are met.
• Develop safety system to track and enforce safety compliance.
• Ensure compliance to Safety System, Mine Safety Systems and Health and Safety Legislation.
• Control all safety documents and records.
• Conduct internal Safety audits and track and ensure compliance.
• Conduct HIRAs where and when required and ensure implementation.
• Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by line management.
• Report to higher authority any unsafe condition or equipment and cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to
constitute a safety hazard.
• Cease carrying on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
• Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.
• Implement and register near-misses and hazards to promote a safe and healthy work environment.
• Perform all safety related tasks as may be assigned to him / her by the Company.
• Ensuring compliance with statutory and legal requirements, amongst others all DMRE and environmental compliance and reporting.

Qualifications :

• Diploma / NQF level 6
• IOSM – Institute of Safety Management
• ROSPrac – Registered Occupational Safety Practitioner
